About the event
HAVE A TEAM OF 4 READY TO SIGN UP?
Want to get in on the Furniture Makeover Challenge, learn to paint furniture like a pro, raise money for your favorite charity, and have a BLAST doing it? Â
Up to 4 teams of four will each learn basics AND advanced furniture painting with hands on instruction from Susie Myres, owner of The Rusty Gate Shop & Studio, at the Rusty Gate studio. each team will bring in a piece of furniture to make over and in two class sessions, work together to take that piece from DRAB to FAB. Then, the completed piece will be offered up for SALE at the shop in a silent auction, with the proceeds going directly to the charity of the team's choice. The team with the highest donation will be featured on the Rusty Gate Facebook page, and a story submitted to the local newspapers for coverage of their work and charitable donation. Â Â
The 2 class sessions can be chosen by the team from available days during July and August. Â The silent auction will begin for each piece as soon as it is completed and end at the end of August. Each team will work together to complete their piece and learn how to completely makeover a piece of furniture. Furniture pieces can include a dresser, desk, or accent piece that fits within size guidelins specified by the instructor that can be refinished during the alloted class time by the team. Up to 4 additional workshop hours (cumulative) may be purchased by each team. Â
Each team member pays $99 to attend both beginning and advanced class sessions (that's 2 hands on classes for LESS than the price of one!). Supplies will include up to 1 qt of paint, brushes and supplies. additional embellishments can be purchased by the team with the instructor's help. It is the responsibility of the team to attend the classes - no refunds will be given for team members unable to attend a class. Â
THE CHALLENGE IS ON AS SOON AS WE HAVE AT LEAST 2 TEAMS of 4 . Â We will open up the challenge to teams of 4 first, and afterward to individuals who need a team to join, subect to availability of spots. First come, first served.Â
Reserve your team of 4 and as soon as at least two teams are secured, invoices will be sent to participants to purchase their spot.Â
