Making New Wood Look Like Aged Wood

Do you want to learn how to make new wood look like aged barnwood?

In this demonstration class, you will learn several techniques for making new wood look like old wood and old barnwood.  Led by furniture artist and owner of The Rusty Gate shop, Susie Myres, she will present several methods using special tools, stains, paints and washes to get the look of time worn wood.  There is a wide range of methods to achieving this look, and this class will cover a variety for bare wood, stained wood, and pre-painted wood. Whether you are a beginner or experienced painter looking for new tips and techniques, you will learn the proper tools and supplies, preparation, application and protection of the finished work.

Watch the entire transformation of different examples of various products onto different types of finished wood projects. We will cover all the basics in a step by step demonstration on several actual piece from start to finish. With the information and techniques you will learn in this class, you will be ready to begin making weathered wood projects with confidence! You CAN do it! I will walk you through the entire process. The class consists of lecture, demonstration, and Q&A during each step.  This 3  hr class is $52 and will teach you all the knowledge and confidence to make your own barnwood. Bring a notebook and pen to take notes and be prepared to learn a lot. Plus, students can use a 10% off coupon for any shop purchases made that night (excluding paint and painting supplies)

What can I bring into the class? 

You may bring your favorite snacks. We will be serving light appetizers and refreshments  

Do I need to bring any tools or supplies?

All tools and supplies for this class will be provided for the students. 

Should I wear special clothing for painting?

This is a demonstration only class, where the instructor will be doing the painting, so it's up to you. But the instructor IS a messy painter, and who knows how far the paint will be flying (lol)!!  There WILL be creativity and PAINT is involved.

Can I cancel? What's the refund policy? 

We get it, life happens and you may need to reschedule. We will be fully preparing for all students so there are no refunds, but if you need to cancel, your registration can be applied toward any other class.
